Rev Mathew Henry Arnold B. A. 17.09.1923
Aberdare man who has made good in America

The Rev Mathew Henry Arnold, B.A. who has recently accepted a call to a large Presbyterian Church at Osage City, Kansas, U.S.A. is an Aberdare boy, who has made notable progress in the United States, of which he has become a naturalised citizen.

Mr Arnold is the youngest of six sons of Mr J. B. Arnold, grocer, and the late Mrs Arnold, of 12 Margaret Street, Trecynon, Aberdare.

He received his early education at the famous “Ysgol Comin” at Trecynon, winning a scholarship later as the Aberdare County School. He pursued his studies at the University College Cardiff, where he graduated.

He subsequently took up an appointment as English master at Llanelli County School, remaining there, however only for a period of twelve months, when he decided to go in for the ministry. Early in 1914 he accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church as La Grange, Texas, and five years later went to the First Presbyterian Church at Smithville, Texas. Mr Arnold has now accepted a call to the pastorate of a large modern church as Osage City, Kansas, and will take up his new appointment next month.
