Dr. Ieuan Thomas

Welsh Doctor and noted marksman Dr. leuan Thomas. who died at Camrose, Radyr, on Sunday, aged 71, was the son of the Rev. Ben Thomas (Myfyr Emlyn), the well-known Pembrokeshire poet. He was in practice at Hirwaun, Aberdare, for about 45 years and retired about three years ago, when his son, Dr. Ben Thomas, took over his practice.

In his younger days he was a sportsman of repute. As an officer in the old Volunteer Corps Dr. Thomas was a noted marksman and a regular member of the South Wales team that competed annually at Sisley. On one occasion about 20 years ago he won a trophy at one of the Bisley competitions. Dr. Thomas was also one of the first motorists in South Wales.

He is survived by his widow, two sons (Dr. Ben Thomas and Mr. G. Thomas). and two daughters (Mrs. Dr. Henry and Mrs. Leburn, both of Doncaster). One of Dr. Thomas’s sons was killed in the Great War.
