Abercynon Poets 1860-1900  
During this period was of great literary activity in the valley from Aberdare to Pontypridd and many in the long rooms of public houses such as the New Inn (Basin) Abercynon; Ynysybwl Inn at Ynysybwl; Carw Coch “The Red Stag” Trecynon and various places in Pontypridd.

Mabonwysonwas also a poet failed to win anywhere and he blamed after the “Clie y Bont” the Pontypridd clique for continuing to put themselves always as winners of the these competitions. Only once he picked a small prize at the New Inn (Basin).
